Purim Shpiel

Different Jewish communities have special foods for Purim, which remind them of the story and poke fun at Haman. Ashkenazi Jews often eat hamentashen, three cornered cookies stuffed with jam, chocolate, or poppy seeds. They are supposed to resemble Haman’s three cornered hat (or his pockets - the Yiddish word for pocket is tasch). Sephardi Jews often eat oznei Haman, long, pointy cookies which are supposed to resemble Haman’s ears.
