Even in the saddest moments, Jews have always tried to find a glimmer of
hope for a better future. That’s why there is an ancient Jewish legend
that the Messiah will be born on Tisha B’Av, that a solution lies with
every difficulty. According to this legend, the Messiah will be called
Menachem, the Comforter, because he will bring peace and comfort to the
world. The legend ends by saying that Tisha B’Av, now the saddest day in
the Jewish calendar, will one day become a very happy holiday.
