"On
Rosh HaShana it is written and on Yom Kippur it is sealed.
. ."
How
would you like to start out the new year? With a big party, like many
people do, or by thinking about all the things you did over the past
year? What would you like to do again? Is there anything you feel sorry
about and think that you can improve? That’s what the Yamim Nora’im
are all about. They are ten very serious days (Yamim Nora’im means the
“Days of Awe”) beginning with Rosh HaShana, the Jewish New Year, and
ending with the fast of Yom Kippur. On these ten days we have a chance
to look back at everything we did over the last year and decide what
we can try to do better in the coming year. Even if we made some mistakes
in the past year - and everybody makes mistakes - the ten days of the
Yamim Nora’im are the time to try and make up for it.
