This
was the name of the party held in the Temple during Hol HaMo’ed Sukkot.
It means, “Rejoicing of the House of the Water Drawing,” to remind us
that only on Sukkot was water poured on the altar as a prayer for rain in
the coming winter. Today many people have special parties with music and
dancing on the nights of Hol HaMo’ed Sukkot to remember the Simhat Beit
HaSho’eva in the Temple. |
