According
to Jewish tradition, Rosh HaShana is when God opens the Gates of Heaven to
our prayers and decides what will happen to us in the coming year. All of
His decisions are written down in a big book. On Yom Kippur He signs and
seals the book. But we still have one last chance - Hoshana Rabbah - to
show God that we really mean to be better. Only then does He close the
Gates of Heaven (although we can still get our prayers in any time of the
year if we really try hard enough). |
