The
last part of the service on Yom Kippur is Ne'ila, or the Closing
Service. As Yom Kippur comes to a close, tradition tells us that God has
already decided what is going to happen to everyone in the coming year. He
wrote it all down in a big book and is now putting his seal to it, to show
that His decisions are final. Since this is our last chance to show God
how sorry we really are, we open the aron (ark) and recite the Ne'ila
service, asking God to take one last look at us and see how we have become
better people. |
