The last day of Sukkot is called Hoshana Rabbah, or the Great Hoshana. Every day of Sukkot we say special Hoshanot prayers (Hoshannah means “Save Us”) when we march around the synagogue with our arba’a minim. On Hoshana Rabbah we repeat all the Hoshanot that we said during Sukkot and add one more, so that we say seven Hoshana prayers. We list all the reasons that God should help us and if we don’t deserve it, we ask God to help us for the sake of our ancestors, who did deserve His help.
